The Leaving Care Allowance Increase

The Leaving Care Allowance has increased from

£2,000 to £3,000 from 1 April 2023.

What is the Leaving Care Allowance?

Care Leavers receive a Leaving Care Allowance (also known as a setting up home allowance) to help you buy essential items when moving into your own home.

Local Authorities have been allocated funding to enable them to pay the £1,000 uplift from £2,000 to £3,000 to young people leaving care from 2023 - 2025.
